Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Strategy & Agenda to own the long-range view of Ursa Major’s planning function — the horizon beyond the fiscal year, out to the multi-year thesis. This senior individual contributor / player-coach builds the scenarios, market models, and value cases that turn where the business is going into a plan it can commit to today, on an eighteen-month-plus horizon.

You will own the Regional Strategic Meeting and the multi-year thesis, scenario and market modeling, the Quarterly Business Review, and the strategy behind the planning toolset — sitting across Programs, Business Development, Finance, Engineering, and Operations to make sure the plan we commit to this year is the right plan for where Ursa Major is heading as we scale. This role is the long-term counterpart to the Senior Manager, Integrated Business Process — same level, same rigor, a different horizon. IBP owns execution inside the fiscal year; this role owns the long-range view that feeds it. Both report to the Director, Planning & SIOP, and this is a senior role inside an integrated planning function, not a standalone strategy office. You will lead a Strategy Analyst as a direct report. This is a hybrid position with 3-days per week working on-site at our Berthoud, Colorado facility. 

What You’ll Do

Long-Range Strategy & the Multi-Year Thesis

• Own the Regional Strategic Meeting (RSM) and the multi-year thesis end to end — agenda, inputs, and the direction the plan follows beyond the fiscal year.
• Recommend mid- and long-term priorities and the targets that measure them, building the analysis that decides which competing priorities earn investment.
• Own the Quarterly Business Review (QBR): the quarterly re-basing forum that keeps the annual plan honest against the thesis, without reopening the AOP.
• Own the Week-1 portfolio and product review, where R&D, IRAD, and the pipeline are reviewed against capacity before they enter the plan as committed demand.

Scenario, Market & Value-Case Analysis

• Build and maintain the scenarios that test the plan against different demand, capacity, and investment futures.
• Model the market Ursa Major is planning into — TAM / SAM / SOM, share of wallet, and the demand environment — as quantified planning inputs.
• Own the strategic customer value proposition: the quantified case for a given direction, program mix, or investment, and its link to customer outcomes including NPS.
• Own the external view — competitive landscape, market and customer trends — and translate it into long-range plan and portfolio implications.

Planning Horizon, Tools & Reporting

• Own the rolling long-range planning horizon from eighteen months outward, and any planning horizon past the current year with no other home.
• Build and maintain the long-range KPI frameworks and dashboards (Power BI or equivalent): out-year forecast accuracy, capacity outlook, and performance against the thesis.
• Sponsor the planning-tool and platform roadmap from the strategy side, partnering with IT/Engineering and the IBP function on ERP and planning-platform evolution.
• Evaluate and bring forward AI/ML-enabled forecasting, scenario, and decision-support tooling that sharpens the long-range signal.

Connectivity, Support & Continuous Improvement

• Keep the strategy, scenarios, and out-year plan feeding the Integrated Business Process cadence rather than running parallel to it.
• Support the Director and partner with Finance on the out-year plan and AOP build, supplying the volume, capacity, and scenario inputs it depends on.
• Support the Director on change management and on cascading the long-range priorities across a multi-site, multi-program organization.
• Own the planning methodology and its documentation, and drive its continuous improvement using structured, Lean-based methods.

Leadership

• Lead and develop a Strategy Analyst as a direct report, who builds the modeling, data, and analytics behind the scenarios, value cases, and QBR.

What You’ll Bring

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• ~8+ years of experience in integrated business planning, S&OP/SIOP, operations strategy, or a closely related supply-chain discipline, ideally in a manufacturing or hardware environment.
• Demonstrated experience building long-range plans, scenario models, and the analysis behind executive-level strategic decisions.
• Strong command of the mechanics of integrated planning — demand, supply, capacity, and the financial reconciliation that connects volume to revenue — even where this role hands cadence execution to a counterpart.
• Strong quantitative modeling and business-intelligence skills: market sizing, demand modeling, scenario analysis, and KPI/reporting frameworks in Power BI or an equivalent.
• Proven ability to translate operational and financial data into a clear, decision-ready narrative for executive audiences, and to build cross-functional consensus without direct authority — comfortable working with technical, operational, and Finance stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications or training in supply chain or operations (e.g., APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP) and/or project or product management (PMP, CSPO, or CSM).
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
• Experience partnering with Finance on out-year or multi-year planning, and gathering competitive, market, and customer intelligence and turning it into planning and portfolio implications.
• Working knowledge of an ERP/MRP system (Ursa Major uses Odoo) and PLM (Windchill), and of the master-data discipline planning depends on.
• Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience is helpful but not required; candidates from other complex, regulated, or high-mix manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $140,320 - $175,400, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. What we can’t quantify for you are the exciting challenges, supportive team, and amazing culture we enjoy.
