Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy Full Time NEW

Ursa Major is at an inflection point as the company scales across space, hypersonics, and solid rocket motors. Continued growth will require a coordinated corporate strategy that connects customer demand, market dynamics, capital allocation, manufacturing capacity, technology development, and the evolving needs of the national security customer.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the SVP of Corporate Strategy will own the development and execution of Ursa Major’s long-term corporate strategy. This individual will work closely with the CEO, Chief Strategy Officer, Board, and executive leadership team to define where Ursa Major should compete, where the company should deploy capital, and how it should position itself across the national security and aerospace markets.

The SVP will be responsible for driving success across a set of primary focus areas:

• Corporate Strategy: Own Ursa Major’s long-term strategic roadmap across solid rocket motors, hypersonics, space propulsion, and adjacent markets, including prioritization of markets, products, customers, investments, and strategic initiatives
• Market and Competitive Intelligence: Establish a comprehensive view of customer demand, DoD priorities, program funding, competitive dynamics, industrial base constraints, supply chain bottlenecks, and technology trends across Ursa Major’s core markets
• Strategic Growth: Identify and lead evaluation of major opportunities for expansion into new products, programs, mission areas, customers, and geographies
• Capital Allocation: Partner with senior leadership to evaluate major investments across manufacturing capacity, facilities, R&D, new products, and other strategic initiatives
• Corporate Development: Lead identification and evaluation of M&A, strategic investments, joint ventures, partnerships, and other inorganic growth opportunities, including strategic rationale, financial analysis, valuation, diligence, and transaction support
• National Security Strategy: Translate emerging operational requirements, industrial base gaps, acquisition priorities, and mission needs across the Department of Defense into actionable company strategy
• Executive and Board Decision Support: Develop strategic analyses and recommendations for the CEO, Chief Strategy Officer, executive leadership team, and Board related to major investments, transactions, market opportunities, and company priorities
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Work across Government Relations, Business Development, Finance, Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing to ensure corporate priorities translate into executable plans

1. Own and continuously refine Ursa Major’s long-term corporate strategy

• Develop and maintain a multi-year strategic roadmap across the company’s major business lines
• Define priority markets, customers, programs, technologies, and investment areas
• Establish a recurring strategic planning process tied to company objectives and capital allocation
• Identify areas where Ursa Major can address critical national security and industrial base gaps

1. Establish a market intelligence capability across Ursa Major’s core markets

• Maintain market maps across solid rocket motors, hypersonics, space propulsion, energetics, and adjacent markets
• Track relevant DoD programs, budgets, acquisition pathways, production requirements, and customer demand
• Maintain competitive intelligence across legacy primes, emerging defense technology companies, and critical suppliers
• Identify supply chain and production bottlenecks where Ursa Major can create advantages

1. Lead strategic growth and corporate development initiatives

• Build and maintain a pipeline of acquisitions, partnerships, investments, and new market opportunities
• Lead strategic and financial evaluation of major growth initiatives
• Oversee diligence, valuation, and transaction analysis for potential acquisitions and strategic partnerships
• Develop business cases for new manufacturing capacity, facilities, products, and market expansion

1. Strengthen Ursa Major’s position across the national security ecosystem

• Translate emerging DoD requirements and operational needs into company-level priorities
• Develop strategies that position Ursa Major across multiple Services, agencies, programs, and mission areas
• Align corporate strategy with customer demand, government funding priorities, and industrial base requirements
• Build strategic relationships across the defense industrial base, investment community, primes, and emerging technology companies

1. Support major executive and Board-level decisions

• Prepare strategic analyses and recommendations for senior leadership and the Board
• Evaluate major capital allocation decisions, partnerships, acquisitions, and competitive threats
• Lead special projects tied to the company’s highest-priority strategic initiatives
• Serve as a senior strategic resource to the executive leadership team

Minimum Requirements:

• Significant experience in corporate strategy, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting, defense technology, aerospace, or a relevant government role
• Strong understanding of the U.S. defense industrial base and national security ecosystem
• Demonstrated experience evaluating companies, markets, technologies, investments, and strategic transactions
• Strong financial and analytical capabilities, including financial modeling, valuation, market analysis, and business case development
• Ability to translate complex technical, financial, operational, and government information into clear strategic recommendations
• Experience working directly with senior executives and Boards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and lead high-priority, cross-functional initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience across defense technology, aerospace, propulsion, munitions, energetics, or advanced manufacturing
• Experience executing M&A, strategic investments, partnerships, or other transactions
• Familiarity with DoD budgeting, acquisition, contracting, and industrial base priorities
• Existing relationships across the defense technology, investment, aerospace, and national security communities
• Experience operating across both the public and private sectors
