Vice President, Corporate Strategy Full Time NEW

Ursa Major is at an inflection point as the company scales across space, hypersonics, and solid rocket motors. Continued growth will require a coordinated corporate strategy that connects customer demand, market dynamics, capital allocation, manufacturing capacity, technology development, and the evolving needs of the national security customer.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the VP of Corporate Strategy will help develop and execute Ursa Major’s corporate strategy across its core markets. This individual will work closely with senior leadership teams and functional teams across the company to evaluate markets, identify strategic growth opportunities, assess investments and partnerships, and translate changing customer and competitive dynamics into actionable recommendations.

The VP will be responsible for driving success across a set of primary focus areas:

• Corporate Strategy: Support development and execution of Ursa Major’s strategic roadmap across solid rocket motors, hypersonics, space propulsion, and adjacent markets
• Market and Competitive Intelligence: Develop detailed analyses of customer demand, DoD priorities, program funding, competitors, industrial base constraints, supply chains, and technology trends
• Strategic Growth: Identify and evaluate opportunities to expand into new programs, mission areas, customers, products, and geographies
• Corporate Development: Evaluate potential acquisitions, strategic investments, partnerships, and other inorganic growth opportunities, including financial analysis, valuation, diligence, and strategic fit
• National Security Strategy: Translate Department of Defense priorities, operational requirements, and industrial base gaps into strategic recommendations for the company
• Executive Decision Support: Develop analyses and materials supporting major strategic decisions by the CEO, Chief Strategy Officer, and executive leadership team
• Cross-Functional Execution: Work closely with Government Relations, Business Development, Finance, Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing to advance major strategic initiatives

Objectives and Key Results (OKRs):

1. Support development and execution of Ursa Major’s corporate strategy

• Maintain a strategic roadmap across Ursa Major’s major business lines
• Evaluate priority markets, customers, programs, technologies, and investment opportunities
• Develop recommendations around where the company should invest, partner, acquire, or expand
• Support the company’s recurring strategic planning process

1. Build detailed market and competitive intelligence

• Develop market maps across solid rocket motors, hypersonics, space propulsion, energetics, and adjacent markets
• Track relevant DoD programs, budgets, acquisition pathways, production requirements, and customer demand
• Maintain competitive intelligence across legacy primes, emerging defense technology companies, and critical suppliers
• Identify supply chain and industrial base bottlenecks relevant to Ursa Major’s growth strategy

1. Evaluate strategic growth opportunities

• Maintain a pipeline of potential acquisitions, partnerships, investments, and new market opportunities
• Develop strategic and financial business cases for major growth initiatives
• Conduct financial modeling, valuation, diligence, and market analysis related to potential transactions
• Evaluate new manufacturing capacity, facilities, products, and market expansion opportunities

1. Strengthen Ursa Major’s position across the national security market

• Track emerging DoD operational requirements, industrial base priorities, and acquisition needs
• Develop strategies to expand Ursa Major’s position across multiple Services, agencies, programs, and mission areas
• Work closely with Government Relations and Business Development to connect company strategy with customer demand and funding priorities
• Build relationships across the defense technology, investment, and national security communities

1. Support executive decision making

• Prepare strategic analyses and recommendations for the Chief Strategy Officer and executive leadership team
• Support evaluation of major investments, market opportunities, competitive developments, and partnerships
• Lead or support special projects tied to the company’s highest-priority strategic initiatives
• Coordinate across internal teams to drive execution of strategic priorities

Minimum Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience in corporate strategy, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting, defense technology, aerospace, or a relevant government role
• Strong understanding of the U.S. defense industrial base and national security technology ecosystem
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate companies, markets, technologies, and investment opportunities
• Strong financial and analytical skill set, including financial modeling, valuation, market analysis, and business case development
• Ability to synthesize complex technical, financial, operational, and government information into clear strategic recommendations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple high-priority initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience across defense technology, aerospace, propulsion, munitions, energetics, or advanced manufacturing
• Experience evaluating M&A, strategic investments, partnerships, or other corporate development opportunities
• Familiarity with DoD budgeting, acquisition, contracting, and industrial base priorities
• Existing relationships across the defense technology, investment, and national security communities
• Experience operating across both the public and private sector
